Several associations have formed a new coalition with the goal of eradicating sexual harassment in the events industry and workplace.
The new coalition was formed when the groups involved determined that the issue of sexual harassment required policies that extend beyond the confines of each individual organization, according to a statement by coalition member ASAE. Other members include the Events Industry Council, International Association of Exhibitions and Events and Professional Convention Management Association.
"All the organizations came together because the ethical concerns and human rights would be better served working together, so we can stop sexual harassment from occurring in the industry," ASAE CEO John Graham said.
The coalition will identify tools and develop new resources to assist in educating individuals and the events industry about sexual harassment.
"It's imperative that our organizations present a united front against sexual harassment in the industry. Together, we are declaring zero tolerance for behavior that harasses or discriminates," said Kiki Fox, president of the Association for Women in Events, another coalition member.
The coalition's other members are the international events association IMEX, Joint Meetings Industry Council, Meeting Professionals International and Society for Incentive Travel Excellence. http://bit.ly/2rIqcmv
